Nelson's Navy Strength Gin – 70cl Premium Spirit | 57% ABV Strength
A sufficiently sharper and stronger successor to its sister spirit, Nelson’s London Dry No.7, Nelson’s Navy Strength Gin uses the same recipe of 27 botanicals but is blended to 57% ABV, not 42.5%. This increase in alcohol - or should we say a decrease in dilution allows for a more impactful flavour, enhancing the distinct botanical notes for a richer taste experience.
*Why Navy Strength? – Historically, every ship in the British Royal Navy set sail with a supply of gin or rum. It was crucial that the alcohol did not disarm the ship if it spilt on the gunpowder during rough voyages. It was discovered that alcohol at 57% ABV (100% proof) or above, if spilt over gunpowder, would still ignite, ensuring the ship’s artillery remained operational.
Cocktail:
Add the following to a mixing glass with cubed ice. Stir until the outside of the glass is cool then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a green olive.
- 75ml Navy Strength Gin
- 15ml Dry Vermouth
- 15ml Olive Brine
To keep every bottle in its best condition, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and temperature swings. Always keep bottles upright unless stated otherwise.
